Summary
Shiori regains consciousness in the underbelly of the Holy Mountains, lying on a stone bed near the breach—a glowing, crooked vein of magic that has grown larger over the past days. Her paper bird Kiki is there, along with dozens of other paper birds, but Kiki's wing is broken by an arrow. As Shiori touches the wing, she finally recognizes the silvery-gold pattern on it as a piece of her own soul—the thread that has always connected them.
The demons materialize from the breach, hundreds of red eyes watching her with desperate intent. They demand she fulfill her promise to free them.
