Summary

The chapter opens with Livira and the other settlement children passing through the vast gates of Crath City for the first time. Livira reflects that she had been dirty her whole life but never felt dirty until stepping through those gates, and she had been dwarfed by the Dust but never felt small until the sandstone walls rose above her.
