Summary

The chapter opens at a peace summit banquet in San Irie, where Elara is trying to discreetly watch Reeve, who is clearly hurting after a strained encounter with his estranged father, Commander Faron. Reeve has been drinking rum and avoiding eye contact with his father, and he confesses to Elara that he still loves Faron despite the man's atrocities—Faron once planned to burn San Irie to the ground. Elara comforts him, telling him it's okay to have complicated feelings, but Reeve insists his father will never change. To change the subject, Reeve points out a Langlish Hearthstone student, Signey Soto, who is standing alone near the windows.
