Summary

The chapter opens with Nora explaining to her sisters, Carmen and Skipper, that the syringes they smuggled out of Vault City contain different versions of a spore-based substance that was developed over years, not invented all at once. A chip among the materials holds data showing when each version was developed. Nora senses Skipper's disappointment — Skipper expected to find a victim to rescue, and Nora's competence unsettles that image.
