Summary
In King's Hollow, Lance Orion, Darcy Vega, Tory Vega, and the Heirs—Darius, Seth, Caleb, Max, Xavier, and Geraldine—gather around a table with all twelve Guild Stones arranged in a circle. Lance places the final stone, and for a moment, the air crackles with power, but then everything falls silent. The stones fail to activate, leaving the group frustrated and anxious. Seth kicks a chair in anger, while Max tries to calm everyone with a wave of relaxing energy.
Lance recalls his father's diary, which mentions that the stones must be united to restore balance and reform the Zodiac Guild. Darcy suggests using the initiation potion that was brewed for new Guild members, but Lance refuses, citing unknown consequences and the fact that brewing another batch would take six weeks—time they don't have. Darius grimly notes that his father could strike again within days. Geraldine offers to drink the potion herself, but Max and Lance veto that idea.
With no immediate solution, Lance decides to try rearranging the stones in different formations. The others leave to give him space, except Darcy, who stays to help. As she examines the stones, she accidentally picks up the Virgo sapphire, which was in the wrong place. Lance corrects the circle, and the moment the stones connect properly, an explosion of energy blasts through the room. Lance and Darcy are transported into a vision—a vast, golden palace with sweeping staircases. They find themselves dressed in ethereal garments, and a being named Arcturus, a star from the Sixth House, appears before them.
Arcturus explains that they are in the Grawl, the Halls of Fate, home to the Court of Caelestina. He shows them the interconnected web of fate, the many realms that exist in layers, and the history of the Faeries. He reveals that the Faeries split into two races: the Fae and the Nymphs. The Nymphs were driven to the Shadow Realm, but a dark prince's curse created malevolent spirits that ravaged the realm. When Queen Avalon Vega cast Lavinia Umbra into the Shadow Realm, Lavinia became one with those spirits, gaining immortality and the power to trap every Nymph soul that passed into death.
Arcturus then shows them Diego's life—his childhood under Alejandro's cruelty, his brief happiness at Zodiac Academy, and his death at Darcy's side. Darcy is devastated to learn that Diego's soul is trapped in the shadows, tormented by Lavinia's pollution. She demands to know if there's a way to free him, but Arcturus says it would require a power greater than any Fae possesses. He then declares that it is time for them to learn the truth of the Guild Stones, leaving the chapter on a cliffhanger.
