Summary

The chapter opens with the crew still trapped inside the sealed suite. Ny attempts to break through the hardened QuikLok sealant that Diaz poured into the door's mechanisms, first with the largest screwdriver she has and then with a microblade. Neither tool makes any meaningful progress; the screwdriver only dulls its edge, and the microblade snaps in two. Reed, who supervised quality testing for QuikLok during its development for colony habs, insists Ny is pushing too hard and takes over, delicately scraping at the substance with the broken blade.
